Font character checker

Most comic fonts only contain basic English letters. A missing letter gets drawn from another font, so the line looks patched, and the PSD breaks when opened on another computer. Choose a font and the checker tries every letter your language needs, one by one. Your font file is not uploaded anywhere.

Files never leave your device

How does it test?

  1. The font is loaded into your browser temporarily (only in this tab; it is gone when you close the page).
  2. A letter the font does not contain is drawn from a fallback font automatically.
  3. The checker measures each letter with two different fallback fonts; if the measurement does not change with your font, the letter is missing.
  4. Missing letters are marked in red in the preview.

Frequently asked questions

Is my font file uploaded anywhere?

No. The font is only used in your browser's memory, in the open tab, and is discarded when you close the page.

Will Photoshop behave the same way?

Yes. Photoshop cannot draw a letter the font does not have either; it falls back to another font or shows an empty box. This check lets you see that before you start typesetting.

A letter is missing. What should I do?

The robust fix is to pick another font in the same style that has the letters, and make sure everyone on the team uses the same font file. Drawing the letter by hand or swapping in a look-alike gives inconsistent results.

Does it check the font licence?

No. It only shows which letters exist. Check the licence on the font's own page before using it in a release.

Why the uppercase option?

Lettering is often all-caps, and some fonts have complete lowercase accents but miss the capital forms (Turkish İ, Polish Ł, Vietnamese Ơ). This option catches that.
