Custom roles
Create roles of your own for your team, edit or delete them; which permissions you can pick, template roles, priority and how they differ from system roles.
Updated:
When the built-in roles are not enough, you can create a role just for your team: for example an "Announcer" who can only post announcements, or a "Chapter Lead" who can create and delete chapters. A custom role carries the permissions you pick; you give it to a member from the Members page.
Where to find it
In the left menu, under Management, open Roles. The page has three sections:
- Permission Roles: the system's built-in permission roles (such as Fansub Yöneticisi and Fansub Görevlisi). They cannot be changed here.
- System Display Roles: task badges such as translator or typesetter. They grant no permissions; who works on which step is decided by assignment (see Step assignments).
- Custom Roles: roles your team created. These are the only ones you can edit and delete.

For all role types and who can do what, see Roles and permissions.
Step by step: a new role
- On the Roles page, click New Role.
- Enter a Role Name (up to 50 characters). Description is optional.
- Priority (1-99) sets the role's position in lists; a higher priority sits higher. The default is 10.
- Optionally pick a role under Template Role (Optional): its permissions get ticked. If you then change a box, the template choice is cleared and whatever is ticked gets saved.
- Tick what the role can do in the Permissions list.
- Click Create in the save bar at the bottom.

To give the role to a member: Members → the member's ⋮ menu → Edit Roles (see Members and invitations).
Permissions you can pick
The list only shows permissions that are actually enforced:
- Team: Manage Fansub, Invite Members, Remove Members
- Role: Create Roles, Edit Roles, Delete Roles
- Series: Create Series, Edit Series, Delete Series, Assign Series Roles
- Chapter: Create Chapters, Edit Chapters, Delete Chapters, Reset Chapters
- Workflow: View Workflow Status, Update Workflow Status
- File: Download Files
- Team Hub: Manage Announcements, Manage Team Assets
- Chat: Read Chat, Write in Chat, Mention Everyone (@all)
Create Chapters can also be granted for a single series: Series → Team → Manage → Chapter creation permission.
Editing and deleting
- The pencil on a custom role's card opens Edit Role; you can change the name, description, priority and permissions.
- The bin icon deletes the role. A role in use cannot be deleted: if members, series assignments or pending invitations use it, you are told so. Give those people another role first; otherwise deleting the role would also remove them from the team.
- System roles (permission roles and task badges) cannot be edited or deleted from the team panel.
Who can do this
- The Roles page and new roles: the team owner, Fansub Yöneticisi (admin) and anyone with Create Roles (
role.create). - Editing: owner, admins and Edit Roles (
role.edit); deleting: owner, admins and Delete Roles (role.delete). - Someone who is not the owner or an admin cannot put a permission they do not hold into a role. That way nobody can create a more powerful role and promote themselves.
Good to know
- With a Public invitation link, the person joining can only pick one of the system task badges; custom roles are not listed there.
- Permissions add up: a member with several roles has the permissions of all of them together.
