Notifications

The notification bell, the Notifications page, and choosing which notifications reach you in the panel, by email and on Telegram.

Updated:

The panel tells you what is happening with notifications: your step is ready, a revision was requested, someone mentioned you in chat, an invitation or a join request arrived… Notifications can come through three channels: Panel, Email and Telegram. You choose which ones.

The bell

The bell in the top bar shows the number of unread notifications. Clicking it opens the latest ones.

The bell in the top bar and the list of latest notifications

  • Clicking a notification marks it as read and takes you to the related screen.
  • Mark all as read marks them all as read.
  • View all notifications opens the Notifications page.

The Notifications page

Notifications in the left menu, or View all notifications in the bell.

The Notifications page: read-state and type filters, bulk actions

  1. Filter by read state with All / Unread.
  2. Filter by type with All types, Chapter, Revision, Membership, Message, System.
  3. Each notification has Mark as read, Delete and Go →.
  4. Bulk actions: Mark all as read, Delete read and Delete all (asks for confirmation, cannot be undone).

If you are in several teams, the list shows your active team's notifications (plus account notifications that don't belong to a team). Read notifications are deleted automatically after 90 days; unread ones are kept.

Notification preferences

From the user menu at the top right: Account Settings → the Notification Preferences card. Each row is a notification type, each column a channel.

The Notification Preferences card in the profile: types in rows, channels in columns

  1. Turn one channel of one type on or off with its switch.
  2. To change a whole channel at once, use Enable All / Disable All at the top.
  3. Changes are saved immediately (Notification preference updated.).

Types: Chapter Updates, Task Assignments, Workflow Changes, Revision Requests, Chat Mentions, Series Chat Messages, Invitation Notifications, Team Announcements, Marketing & News, Account & Billing.

Channel rules:

  • Chat Mentions and Series Chat Messages never come by email (panel and Telegram only); the table shows "—" in that cell.
  • Marketing & News is email only.
  • Account & Billing is always shown in the panel and cannot be turned off there; you can turn off its email and Telegram.
  • The Telegram column stays disabled until you link your Telegram account. To link it, see Discord and Telegram.

If you never touched them, the starting setup is: panel on for every type (except Marketing); email on only for Invitation Notifications, Team Announcements and Account & Billing; Telegram off.

Common questions

  • "I don't get a notification for every team chat message." Right: in team chat you are only notified when you are mentioned or someone replies to your message. Series chats and direct messages have their own rules: Series messages, Direct messages.
  • "Emails don't arrive." First check the Email switch for that type. If an email to your address bounced permanently (the address doesn't exist), no email is sent to that address for 30 days; changing your address lifts the block.
  • "The notification came in Turkish." Notification text is written in the recipient's saved language. When you change the language from the language switch in the top bar, that choice is saved and later notifications come in that language (see Profile and account).
