Creating a series
Create a new series, fill in its details from MangaUpdates, pick a cover and workflow; edit the series later and set up a weekly automatic chapter.
Updated:
Every manga, manhwa or webtoon your team works on is a series. Chapters, step assignments, the glossary and fonts all live under a series. This article covers creating a series and editing it later.
Where to find it
Open Series in the left menu and press New Series at the top right. If the team has no series yet, Add First Series in the empty list takes you to the same place.

Step by step
-
In the Import from MangaUpdates card, type the series name into Search on MangaUpdates.... Results appear after a short pause once you have typed at least two characters.
-
Pick the series from the list. The form fills itself: title, original title, description, author, artist, year, type, status, genres and cover. The card says "MangaUpdates data loaded"; press Clear to remove the link.
-
If the series does not show up, press the link icon next to the search (Import by URL), enter the MangaUpdates address or series ID in Paste URL and press Fetch.

-
Check the fields in the Series Details card. Title is the only required field.
-
Cover Image: if it came from MangaUpdates, the form says "The MangaUpdates cover image will be used." To use your own image press Select Cover (PNG, JPG or GIF, up to 2 MB).
-
Choose the Type (Webtoon, Manga, Manhwa, Manhua, Novel) and Status (Active, Paused, Completed, Dropped).
-
In Workflow, choose which steps the series goes through. Leaving it on Default uses the team's default workflow.

-
As soon as you touch the form, a save bar appears at the bottom of the page. Press Create. Discard empties the form; Cancel goes back to the series list.
Once the series is created you land on its page. The other team members get a new-series notification, and the series gets its own chat room.
What next
- Assign people to the steps: Step assignments.
- Open the first chapter: Opening chapters.
- No suitable workflow yet? Set one up first: Workflows.
Editing a series
On the series page press Edit. The Edit Series form has the same fields as the create form plus two more:
- Weekly new chapter day: pick a day and a new chapter is opened automatically on that day at 08:00. Its number is one more than the highest chapter number in the series. Off stops it.
- Deadline (days later): the automatically opened chapter gets a deadline that many days later (1–30). It can only be filled once a day is chosen.

You can change the workflow from this form too. As soon as you change the selection, and before you save, the form tells you what will happen to the existing chapters. The full rules: Step assignments.
Delete Series at the bottom of the form moves the series and all of its chapters to the Trash.
Who can do this
- Creating a series needs the Create Series permission, editing needs Edit Series, deleting needs Delete Series. The team owner can do everything. Permissions come from roles: Roles and permissions.
- Without the permission, the New Series button is not shown at all.
Good to know
- If you have reached your plan's series limit, the series is not created and you see "You have reached the series limit". Adding more series needs a plan upgrade.
- If the team's subscription does not allow writing (for example, it has expired), series cannot be created or edited.
- If the cover cannot be downloaded, the series is still created and you see a warning; you can upload the cover again from Edit.
- If you are not someone who sees every series (not an admin or moderator), the series you create is added to your My series list.
