Trash

Deleted series, chapters, Team Center assets and step files stay in the Trash for 30 days; restore them from there before they are permanently deleted.

Updated:

When you delete something in the panel it does not vanish right away: it moves to the Trash, disappears from lists and from the quota, and its files are kept. You can restore it within 30 days; after that it is permanently deleted.

Where to find it

In the left menu, click Trash under Management.

The Trash page The Trash page

What ends up here

  • Deleted series: on the series page More actions (⋮) → Delete Series, or Delete Series on the edit form. All of the series' chapters move with it. For large series deletion can take a few minutes; meanwhile the series page shows chapters as being deleted.
  • Deleted chapters: on the chapter page More actions → Delete Chapter.
  • Deleted hub assets: watermarks, fonts and PSD templates deleted from the Team Center.
  • Step files: files deleted on step screens.

The Delete Series confirmation window The Delete Series confirmation window

The confirmation window tells you what will happen: translations and files are kept, and it can be restored within 30 days.

Restoring

Each row says how many days are left (it turns red in the last five days). Press Restore; the item goes back where it was.

There are two cases where restoring is not possible; the row explains why and the button stays disabled:

  • "Its series is deleted too": the chapter's series is also in the trash. Restore the series first.
  • "A live chapter with the same number exists": a new chapter was opened with that number later. Delete the new chapter or change its number before restoring.

If you open an old link to a series or chapter that is in the trash and you are allowed to restore it, you are redirected to the Trash.

Who can see it

The menu link and the page are open to anyone with at least one of the Delete Chapters, Delete Series or Manage Team Assets permissions. On the page, everyone sees only what they can restore:

  • Series: the Delete Series permission.
  • Chapters: the Delete Chapters permission. Without it, you can still restore chapters you opened yourself and deleted before anyone worked on them.
  • Hub assets: the Manage Team Assets permission.
  • Step files: the Edit Chapters permission.

The team owner sees and restores everything.

Good to know

  • After 30 days the item and its files are permanently deleted; this cannot be undone.
  • A workflow used by a series cannot be deleted while that series is in the trash, so the series does not come back without a workflow.
  • Reset Completely does not send anything to the trash; a reset chapter's files and translations are permanently deleted (Chapter status and reopening).
