Quality check
Review and preview the finished pages on the Quality Control screen, add and tick checklist items, approve the chapter or request a revision from typesetting.
Updated:
Quality Control is the last step of the workflow: you take a final look at the finished pages handed in by the typesetter or the visual editor. When you press Approve, the chapter is completed; if something is wrong, you ask for a fix.
The top of the screen, the Workflow panel and Notes work the same on every step: What every step screen shares.
Where to find it
The step opens when typesetting (or visual editing) is completed, and the assignee is notified. Your turn → Continue on the chapter page, the Quality Control row in the workflow list, or My Tasks → Go to Task.
Screen layout

- The toolbar: which step the pages came from (Typesetter or Visual Editor) and the page count; Preview Chapter, Download ZIP. If the pages were handed in as an external link, Open External Link.
- The page grid: click a page to open it large; thumbnails, full screen and download buttons are there.
- If there is nothing to check yet it reads "Wait for the typesetting or visual editing steps to be completed."
- On the side: Downloads (files, translation as TXT/DOCX), Translation Info (translator, text version, length, approval date, translation source), Workflow, Checklist and Notes.
Preview Chapter opens the QC Preview page: the pages are stacked the way a reader will see them. Switch between Full Width / Fit, download with Download ZIP, and come back with Back to QC.
The checklist

The Checklist holds the things your team checks on every chapter ("are the sound effects translated", "is the credits page there" and so on):
- Items are team-wide: an item you add appears on the quality control screen of every series in the team.
- Ticks are per chapter: you tick what you checked on this chapter, and the header shows "ticked / total". Ticking needs the step's turn to have come.
- To add an item, type into New item… (up to 200 characters) and press +. The ✕ (Remove item) that appears when you hover over an item deletes it.
- The list is optional; unticked items do not block Approve.
Adding and removing items is open to the team owner, Fansub Admin and Fansub Moderator. If the list is empty and you cannot add items, the card is not shown.
Approving
If everything is in place, press Approve in the header. The chapter is completed ("Chapter approved and completed") and you land on the chapter page. If the chapter has an open revision you cannot approve; that revision has to be resolved first.
If you did earlier steps of this chapter yourself, a This is a self-check notice appears on the side: "You produced the … steps on this chapter. Approving means approving your own work." The notice does not block approval; it only shows what you are approving as your own work. If the list is empty, it suggests adding a checklist.
Requesting a revision
- Press Request Revision in the header.
- Target Step: whoever made the pages — the Typesetter or the Visual Editor.
- Revision Type:
- File Based Revision: flag the pages to fix (Select All / Clear Selection) and add notes to the selected pages. The target step only fixes these pages.
- Full Chapter Revision: ask for the whole chapter to be redone.
- If the pages were handed in as an external link, External Link Revision is selected automatically.
- Revision Reason (required, up to 2000 characters) → Create Revision Request.
Once sent, a Waiting for Sent Revision banner appears on your screen and the approve button is locked. When the typesetter accepts and uploads the corrected pages, a Revision Completed banner appears; you look at the pages again and approve. Details: Proofreading and revisions.
Who can do this
The person assigned to the Quality Control step in this series, plus the team owner, Fansub Admin and Fansub Moderator (Step assignments).
