Typesetting
Download the translation and cleaned pages on the Typesetter screen, get the series fonts, upload typeset pages or share a link, and send them to quality control.
Updated:
The Typesetter places the translation onto the cleaned pages. Typesetting opens once both the text track (translation and proofreading) and the image track (cleaning and balloon cleaning) are done; the screen shows the output of both.
The top of the screen, the Workflow panel and Notes work the same on every step: What every step screen shares.
Where to find it
Your turn → Continue on the chapter page, the Typesetter row in the workflow list, or My Tasks → Go to Task.
The sidebar: downloads, translation source, fonts

The cards on the left come in this order:
- Downloads: Download Translation (TXT) and Download Translation (DOCX). The card is hidden while there is no translation yet.
- Translation Source: the translator's name, whether the translation was made from the RAW files or an external source (Open Source), Source Note, Translator Note, and SFX Translations Included if the translator ticked it, meaning sound effects were translated too.
- Workflow.
- Fonts: the fonts added to the series, with their usage types. The button next to a font downloads it; the button in the card header, Download All (ZIP), downloads all of them. View All / Manage opens the series fonts page (Series fonts). The card is hidden if the series has no fonts.
The work area

- Translation: the lines of the translation; click the header to open it. If the workflow has no proofreader you can comment on lines here (see below).
- Cleaned Files: the pages handed in by the image track, with a download button.
- RAW Files (Reference): the original pages for comparison.
- Previous Step Notes and Notes.
- Choose Source Type: Upload Files or External Link.
Step by step
- Download the translation, the cleaned pages and the fonts; do the typesetting in your own program.
- Choose Upload Files and drag the typeset pages onto the upload box, or click it and choose them. Accepted types: PNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, WebP, PSD and PDF; up to 100 MB per file.
- The pages appear in the Typeset Files grid. Fix the order by dragging or with Move Up / Move Down; delete a wrong file.
- Press Complete in the header. At least one file or an external link is needed.
If you share the pages on Drive, MEGA or similar, choose External Link: the link (required), optional platform and note, Save, then Complete.
If the workflow has quality control, completing hands the work to Quality Control (the Next: … line in the header shows it). If the workflow has neither quality control nor a visual editor, typesetting finishes the chapter; in that case you cannot complete while the chapter has an open revision ("There is an open revision on this chapter; it must be resolved before the chapter can close.").
Asking for a fix
Request Revision in the header can go two ways:
- Text: if the translation has a mistake. With a proofreader in the workflow the request goes to the proofreader, otherwise to the translator. A text request has no file selection; you write your reason.
- Image: if something is wrong with the cleaning. The request goes to the balloon cleaner (or the cleaner if there is none, or the RAW uploader if neither exists). You can flag the pages to fix and add notes, or ask for the whole chapter to be redone.
Only steps that have handed in their work and have no open revision appear in the list. How a request travels: Proofreading and revisions.
Line comments in a workflow without a proofreader
Without a proofreader, nobody else reads the translation line by line before you, so the comment layer passes to you. Open the Translation panel, click a line, Add Comment. When you request a revision your comments are attached automatically and the translator sees them in revision mode.
Who can do this
The person assigned to the Typesetter step in this series, plus the team owner, Fansub Admin and Fansub Moderator (Step assignments).
Good to know
- If quality control asks you for a fix, an Incoming Revision Requests banner appears at the top of your screen; after accepting, upload the corrected version of the flagged pages with Upload V2 in the Revision Workspace and press Complete Revision.
