FansubPanel

Setting up your first team

Creating your first team with the Create New Fansub form after signing up and verifying your email; the 30-day trial and what comes with a new team.

Updated:

In FansubPanel everything happens inside a team (a fansub): series, chapters, members, chat. Whoever creates a team becomes its owner. If you are joining a team by invitation, read Joining a team by invitation instead.

Step by step

  1. On the Register page, sign up with email and password, or with your Google or Discord account.
  2. The Email Verification screen opens. Click the link in the email, or type the code from the email into Verification code and press Verify. If you click the link on another device, this screen continues on its own.
  3. If you have no team yet, the panel takes you to the Create New Fansub form.
  4. Type your team's name into Fansub Name. The team address (URL) is generated from the name; you don't need to choose it.
  5. Optionally describe your team in Description.
  6. Press Create. Your new team's Dashboard opens.

What comes with a new team

As soon as the team is created:

  • You are its owner and hold the Fansub Admin role: you can do everything in the team.
  • The team's general chat room is opened (Fansub Chat).
  • A two-step workflow (Translator → Visual Editor) and the locked Solo (Upload the Finished Chapter) workflow are set up. You can change workflows later: Workflows.
  • Your first team starts with a 30-day free trial. Later teams start directly on the free plan. Plans are per team: Plans and subscription.

The new team's dashboard greets you with the No series yet banner: you can get to know the product with a sample series or add your own series right away.

What next?

  1. Open a series: Starting with a sample series or Creating a series.
  2. Invite your team: Members and invitations.
  3. Decide who does which step: Step assignments.

The Set up your team: first steps list on the Dashboard follows this order with you: create a series, assign people to steps, invite members, open the first chapter. Each item ticks itself when you do it; the ? next to it opens the help topic for that task. Connecting Discord is optional. When the four items are done the list disappears; you can also remove it earlier with Hide list. Only the team owner and managers who can manage the subscription see it.

Good to know

  • The Fansub Name must be unique across FansubPanel; the form tells you if a team with that name exists.
  • There is an upper limit on how many teams you can own. When you reach it, the form tells you to delete one of your existing teams to create a new one.
  • If you opened your account through an invitation link, the team creation form is not available to you; you join the team that invited you.
  • To create another team, use the Create New Fansub button on the My Fansubs page (address: /fansubs). Switch between teams by clicking the team name in the top bar.
